academy COURSE: A fresh approach to training

16-17 April 2013, Windsor, UK

We are delighted to invite you to our new Professional Development course: A Fresh Approach to Training. The target audience for this course is Trainees and Consultants with a responsibility for training.

There is a pressing need for a fresh look at post-graduate training in an era of reduced working hours, zero tolerance from hospitals and institutions and high expectations from the general public.

Focusing on the development of operative skills is of course essential, however, judgement in the face of uncertainty and within a tight timeframe remains the other essential attribute of an experienced surgeon.

Our aim during this 2 day interactive course, is to enhance the confidence of surgeons in these vital aspects of clinical care. The course will build upon the principles of adult learning, preparing and supporting support trainers for their roles in work-based training.

Topics will include Training, Innovation and Patient Safety; Building a National Programme; Reflective Practice and much more. The SprinT team from the Royal Brompton will also be giving a demonstration.
