亲爱的同道：
1999年秋天在上海儿童医学中心召开了第一届中美先天性心脏病学术研讨会。有10余个国家，300多人参加了会议。大会为各国专家同道提供了互相交流和学习的机会，给与会者留下深刻印象。
在此后的5年中，时常有国内同道询问第二次会议的召开情况。经过中美专家的商讨，在上海儿童医学中心、华盛顿国立儿童医学中心、波士顿儿童医院和HOPE基金会的大力支持下，第二次会议终于筹备完成，将在2004年12月召开。
本次会议将重点介绍小儿先天性心脏病诊治方面的创新和进展。邀请世界著名的小儿先天性心脏病病理专家Van Praagh教授，讲授先天性心脏病的病理，并带有各种心脏石蜡模型作为式教。 会议还有专题报告、教学演示和讨论，涉及到小儿心血管内、外科、麻醉、监护、体外循环和护理等各个方面。相信对与会者有较大的帮助。我们期待12月与您在上海相会。

Dear Colleagues,
In autumn, 1999, the 1st International Symposium of Innovations in Management of Congenital Heart Disease was co-organized by Shanghai Children’s Medical Center, Boston Children’s Hospital and Project Hope in Shanghai. There were more than 300 colleagues from about 10 countries that attended the symposium. The idea and experience exchanging in the symposium deeply impressed everyone.
From then on, many colleagues always asked when the next symposium would be held. After been prepared by the co-organizers of China and U.S.A., the 2nd International Symposium of Innovations in Management of Congenital Heart Disease will come in Dec. 2004, and will be co-organized by Shanghai Children’s Medical Center, Children’s National Medical Center, Boston Children’s Hospital and Project Hope.
The recent new ideas and progress will be introduced and emphasized in the coming 2nd symposium. The world famous pathological expert of pediatric congenital heart disease, Prof. Van Praagh will be invited to give the lecture of pathology of congenital heart disease, with many wax heart models.
There will be the subject reporting, object teaching and discussion concerning the pediatric cardiology, cardiovascular surgery, anesthesiology, perioperative care, excorporeal circulation and nursing care, etc.. We believe it will be helpful to everyone attending the symposium. We look forward to meet you in Shanghai in Dec. 2004. Presiders: Shubao Chen (China)
